Genesis Developments focuses on project development of larger and medium scale grid connected or utility scale wind, solar, storage and hybrid projects. Our track record is one of delivering high quality projects.
Our mission is, and has been since the inception of the Genesis group in 2001, to contribute to the low carbon transition and usher in a clean energy future based on free fuel renewable energy. As the South African electricity and infrastructure market evolves to accommodate the range of market needs (low carbon, affordable, less risky, higher social benefits energy systems) Genesis taken a lead in creating and delivering solutions that add economic value.

Genesis Eco-Energy Developments is one of South Africa’s pioneering renewable energy companies providing project development, management, construction and operations services across a range of renewable energy technologies. Our focus is on free fuel renewable energy (wind, solar PV and marine technologies) as well as bio-energy. Genesis employs of a team of highly experienced people who have worked locally and internationally in areas ranging from energy strategy, policy formulation, energy trading, financial services, land, agriculture and rural development, through to project design, development, management and implementation.
WHAT WE DO
Genesis is actively developing a 5,5GW portfolio of projects in key strategic locations around South Africa. Our prospecting teams works with landowners and resource analysts to identify high value resource areas, and then develop and structure a project in such a way to ensure the project is commercially and technically viable. This ensures that the project can be commercialized to the benefit of all stakeholders.
Our services include sourcing, design, development and financing of projects. Project implementation, construction, operations and maintenance is done in conjunction with our subsidiary company GOCAM (Genesis Operations, Construction and Asset Management).
GENESIS GROUP
Genesis Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Group (GIREG) grew out of the need to direct investment into Genesis’ various renewable energy endeavours, and coordinate development and investment activities across the various platforms. The GIREG portfolio of companies consist of Genesis Eco-Energy Developments (the project development arm of the group), Touchpoint Energy (small-scale Embedded Generation and bi-lateral corporate PPA market), Genesis Clean Energy Holdings (holds stakes in Genesis operational assets), Genesis Operations, Construction and Asset Management company, GenesisHexicon (the joint venture with Sweden’s pioneering offshore floating wind energy company) and Genesis Africa.
